Dubai: Lawrence V. Cutinha Elected President of Ferarites UAE

Dubai, Feb 23 : Lawrence V.  Cutinha was unanimously elected as the president of Ferarties-UAE, for the next two years at a general body meeting held at Karama, Dubai, on Friday 22nd February 2013. The main objective of the meeting was to elect the new office bearers for the year 2013-2015.

Ferarties-UAE, an association of Ferarites living in the UAE is a premier social, cultural and charity organization affiliated to St. Francis Xavier Church, Ferar, Mangalore.

During the past 6 years, Ferarites UAE, has supported several programmes back home and other parts of India in the field of education, medical and meeting the needs of economically weak people, the most important one is the recent launch of "Ferarites-UAE Education Trust Fund, a Rs 10 lakh fund established at SFX church Ferar to support educational needs of young students.

The meeting commenced with a short prayer by Norbert Sequeira followed by welcome note by president Leslie Fernandes.

Vincent Pereira together with Leslie Fernandes conducted the election process while the members called on the nominees. The new Executive committee members who are committed to take Ferarites UAE flag flying high in the UAE are:

Outgoing president Leslie Fernandes addressed the committee and thanked all the committee members for all their support. He appreciated the support of Ferarites for standing by the association in carrying out its activities smoothly. He thanked all the well wishers, benefactors and sponsors for their financial support during the last 6
years which helped Ferarites to fulfill its obligations in the society. He further thanked all the media sponsors for their overwhelming support in reaching out to the people.

New president Lawrence V. Cutinha thanked all the committee for selecting him as the President for the next term.  He requested future support from all the members in fulfilling the main goal of Ferarites-UAE in Reaching out and touching lives of less fortunate. Ferarites-UAE, an association of parishioners of St Francis Xavier Church, Ferar, on Friday December 14 organized its maiden throwball and volleyball tournaments at the Sharjah Wanderers Club grounds on the occasion of its fifth anniversary celebration.

The exciting final matches of Throw Ball between Bunts Dubai, Mangalore Konkans and Konkans Dubai saw that the Bunts Dubai beat both teams to lift the precious Ferarites Throw Ball (Ladies and Gents) in very close and competitive matches.  The Volley Ball trophy was lifted by Ace Spikers.    

It was a very beautiful day and wonderful weather added colour to the tournament though it drizzling a bit in the morning but rest of the just fine.   

Master of Ceremony Vincent Pereira, (Founder & Former President of Ferarites UAE) welcomed the guests to the dais namely Fr. Ronald Lobo, Walter Nandalike, Joseph Mathias, Lancy Madtha, James Mendonca and they were felicitated with flower bouquets including refrees of the day Sudhakar Alva & Team , Moideen& Team.  He welcomed all the teams, sponsors, guests and audience and wished them a very good sports day and all success to the teams.

Leslie Fernandes, President, Ferarites UAE in his Welcome Speech requested all team members to play games in a sportsmen spirit and wished them good luck.  Fr. Ronald Lobo, Parish Priest, Kokkada Church invoked God’s blessings on all teams and organizers for the smooth running of matches.

A beautiful Prayer song was sung by Ms. Sabitha Mathias (2nd Semi-Finalist of GOVM-3) followed by National Anthem was Sung by all team members. Guest of honour Walter Nandalike spoke on the occasion and requested all players to stick to the ethics of the game and have the matches played in a good sportsmen spirit and have healthy competition.

Oath Taking ceremony was conducted by Alwyn Fernandes, Sports Secretary, Ferarites UAE and immediately followed by Inauguration via releasing Balloons in the air.

The games were inaugurated thereafter first the Inauguration of throw ball match was inaugurated by well known community leaders Joseph Mathias and James Mendonsa with Team Captains and Volleyball game was Inaugurated by another veteran of Dubai Lancy Madtha along with Team Captains.

The matches were held throughout and all matches were held in a very healthy competitive way and professional manner.  All the teams and referees were briefed prior to matches on ethics of the games.  The matches were tight and close esp. between Mangalore Konkans Dubai and Konkans Dubai (champions of LKAE Tournament held recently) and Buts Dubai but this time Bunts Dubai managed to beat both Ladies and Men Throw Ball matches and lifted the precious Ferarites Throw Ball Trophy.  Volley Ball teams also played good games and finally Ace Spikers managed to get away with Volley Ball Trophy.

Rasoi Restaurant & Kitchen – RAK provided delicious lunch for all the teams and audience.
 
The closing ceremony was held on the evening of December 14 with Norbert Sequeira compering the event. Roque Rego, Joseph Mathias, Olivia D'Mello and Olisha D'Mello were the distinguished chief guests for the ceremony.

FERARITES GLOBAL PRESENTS SANGON MUGDANA DRAMA & CLAUDE MINI NIGHT ON THE OCASSSION OF FERAR FEST TO BE CELEBRATED AT ST.FRANCIS XAVIER CHURCH, FERAR, ON JAN 12, 2013 AT 5.30 PM

Ferarites Global in association with St. Francis Xavier Church, Ferar is celebrating Ferar Fest on Jan 12, 2013 at Church Grounds, Ferar. The event includes Pradeep Barbozas Sangon Mugdana drama played by the comedian king Dolla & his team. The evening programme is also packed with Claude DSouzas musical night with galaxy of singers. In order to give the feel of fest there will be several games & food stalls.

Entry is free for all. Organizers are expecting huge crowd from nearby parishes like Kinnigoli, Niddodi, Muchur, Kuppepadavu, Moodbidri, Kaikamba, and Bajpe. Transport has been arranged for the returning crowd from nearby parishes.

The main purpose of this event is to bring Ferarites from all parts of the world under one umbrella and share moments of happiness with them.

Joseph Mathias- NRI entrepreneur from Dubai will be the chief guest. NRI entrepreneurs Leo Rodrigues, Abu Dhabi, James Mendonca, Dubai and Konkani drama writer & actor Pradeep Barboza will be the guests of honour.

Ferarites-UAE, an association of parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Church, Ferar on the occasion of 5^th anniversary celebration of the association is all set to host its first ever Throw Ball and Volley Ball tournament at Sharjah Wanderers Club Grounds on Friday, the 14^th of Dec, 2012.  The main objective of the tournament is to offer entertainment to the people residing in UAE and in the mean time support the charity causes back home.

The tournament will be conducted  in the following categories:

1.      Ladies Throw Ball Tournament -  Seven aside

2.      Gents Throw Ball Tournament -   Seven aside

3.      Gents Volley Ball Tournament -  

 

There will be raffle draw followed by closing ceremony.  The winner and runner up in each category will receive attractive cash rewards.  

The rules and regulations will be explained /e mailed to the participating team managers/captains at the time of conducting match fixtures/draw one week prior to the commencement of tournament.

Interested teams are requested to register their teams by sending an e mail on or before Oct 20, 2012.   The registration fees will be AED 250.00 which shall be paid along with registration form to the Treasurer – Mr. Leslie James Pinto Tel: 050-6940717 once Ferarites-UAE accepts registration.
